The most widely sown grass on New Zealand farms, perennial ryegrass performs in a diverse range of farm environments. Quick to establish, simple to manage and with strong potential for multi-year persistence perennial ryegrasses underpin New Zealand's livestock industries.

Types of Perennial Ryegrass

Diploid

Our diploids are bred for increased persistence of yield, combining high tiller density and robustness with increased annual yields. Newer late-heading cultivars provide improved feed quality and palatability with increased growth in Winter and Early Spring to fill seasonal feed gaps.

Tetraploid

The pinnacle of ryegrass performance, Tetraploids provide increased digestibility, higher nutritive value and promote greater pasture utilization. Best suited to well managed rotational dairy and finishing systems with good fertility and soil moisture to maximize livestock performance.

Perennial Ryegrass

Grazing management and nutrition.

To strengthen the life of perennial ryegrass pasture, good grazing management in spring is crucial, as daughter tillers require adequate sunlight to develop into high-quality pasture. The most nourishing part of the ryegrass plant is the leaf, which is easily digested by stock.
